In spite of serious knee injury

Georg Hackl begins coaching education as planned

Köln (pps) In spite of a serious knee injury he suffered in March, Georg Hackl will begin his coaching education at the coaches’ acedemy in Cologne, Germany, next Monday, April 24, 2006. One month ago, the three-time Olympic Champion and two-time silver medalist had torn parts of his knee ligaments and meniscus and suffered a fracture of his shinbone. Following an operation, he is now beginning to put weight on his injured knee again.

The 39 years old athlete from Berchtesgaden had finished his unique career as the most successful luge athlete of all times after his sixth participation in Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006. The German federation is planning to incorporate Hackl in its coaches team after completion of his coaching education.
