Sigulda (pps) The douple event at the 36. World Champion Ships in Sigulda (Latvia) finished with a douple success for Austria: Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger won title in one minute 25,363 seconds followed by their teammates Tobias Schiegl/Markus Schiegl (1:25,386). The bronze medal went to Germany`s Olympic Champions Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (1:25,413) close in front of USA`s word Cup overall winners Mark Grimmette/Brian Martin (1:25,444). Best canadian team, Grant Albrecht/Eric Pothier, finished on 11th place.


Patric Leitner (Olympic Champion 2002):
„Never ever we have been on the podium here in Sigulda. So we are very happy with this bronze medal. It is also the perfekt gift for my birthday on sunday.“

Tobias Schiegl (Worldchampion 1996 und 1997):
„Those two medals are very importatnt for our sport in Austria. Since Markus Prock and Angelika Neuner retired last year, everybody thought, it will take a long time without victories. Today we prove, that Austria`s luge team is very stronh.”

Wolfgang Linger (Worldcup-Winner in Altenberg):
„We made a lot of good runs in the training session this week. so we have been very confident befor the race. But is ist really great to win the Worlds.”
