Calgary (pps) All entered athletes at Continental Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) will be listed in the ranking, irregardless of whether an athlete has qualified for the Viessmann Luge World Cup. At the request of Sepp Benz (SUI), Chairman of the FIL Sport Commission Artificial Track, this decision was made by the FIL Executive Board. Both the 2012 European Championships in Paramonovo, Russia, and the American-Pacific Championships in Calgary, Canada, are carried out in a “race-in-race” competition within the Viessmann Luge World Cup. The FIL Executive Board made this decision so that even those athletes who failed in the Nations Cup to qualify for the World Cup will be listed in the Continental Championship results. The rankings of athletes who failed to qualify for the World Cup events will now be carried out according to the Nations Cup results.
