Buenos Aires (RWH) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session invited Calgary (Canada), Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy) and Stockholm (Sweden) to become Candidate Cities for the Olympic Winter Games 2026 on its final day of meetings in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The final decision about the host of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be made during the 2019 IOC Session in Lausanne (SUI).

Calgary plans to host the competitions in Luge, Bobsleigh and Skeleton on the artificial track of the Canada Olympic Park, which was built for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games and is still in use. Stockholm has chosen Latvia’s track in Sigulda for the medal decisions in the sliding disciplines. Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo plan to re-activate the track of Cortina d’Ampezzo, which was closed in 2009.
