Canada’s Government funds refurbishment of Calgary Ice Track

Calgary (RWH) The Canadian Government is funding refurbishment and modernizing of the Canada Olympic Park Ice Track in Calgary, as was announced by the federation Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton on Twitter. According to newswire,ca, the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi, confirmed a funding of $6.8 million for the 1988 Olympic Ice Track.

The project includes modernizing of the refrigeration system as well as the sun shades. About 360 metres of the track will be remodelled and realigned to more effectively integrate the bobsleigh and luge tracks and to bring it in line with current Olympic standards.

In May 2017, the Canadian province Alberta had announced a funding of $10 million for „Calgary's WinSport Bobsleigh/Luge Track“.

Calgary currently is exploring a potential bid for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
