Erin Hamlin under five hours at marathon debut

Mortensen-Marathon

New York (RWH) Erin Hamlin, the United States' flag bearer at the opening ceremony of this year's Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, finished her first ever marathon race in a time under five hours. She arrived at the finish line of the New York marathon in a total time of 4:52.52 hours. Hamlin retired after Pyeongchang. 2014 she was the first American to win an Olympic medal in luge, taking the bronze medal. She was supported by former team-mate Matt Mortensen.

With her participation the 31-year-old, a two-time world champion, helped raise funds for the Women's Sports Foundation.
