Lake Placid (RWH) There are changes afoot at the top of the United States Luge Association (USLA) as the two-time Olympian Erin Warren has been announced as the successor to Dwight Bell, who served as president for 35 years. The national governing body, based in Lake Placid, announced that 47-year-old Warren had been elected at a board meeting.

“I am privileged to serve this organization, especially knowing how Dwight’s stewardship has served USA Luge so well for so long,” remarked Warren, who finished sixth at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Chris Mazdzer’s silver at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea, was the first ever men’s Olympic medal for USA Luge.

USA Luge CEO Jim Leahy has extended his contract for another four years. Bill Taveres has been appointed head coach, having previously held the role on an interim basis. Robert Fegg has been named as the new head coach of the USA Luge Junior National Team. He succeeds Fred Zimney, who worked for the US association for three decades and wants to seek fresh challenges. Fegg, a former Junior World Champion for Germany, recently enjoyed success as a coach for the Korean national team.
