FIL commissions meet in St. Leonhard near Salzburg

FIL Commission Meeting 2023

Salzburg (FIL/26. Mrz.2024) The International Luge Federation (FIL) announces the upcoming meetings of the Sport, Technical and Natural Track Luge Commissions, which will take place in St. Leonhard near Salzburg from April 4 to 7.

The aim of the meetings is to shape the future of the sport of luge. The most important topics of discussion include following:

Season review and experiences: Reflection on the highlights and challenges of the past season in order to develop future strategies.

Sports calendar for the 2024/25 season: Planning and finalizing the calendar of events for the upcoming season.

Planning the officials for the World Championships: Determining the Jury Members and Technical Delegates for the 53rd FIL World Championships 2025 in Whistler, Canada, and the 40th FIL Junior World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Bids for FIL Championships until 2028: Review and evaluate bids to host future FIL Championships.

FIL-Kommissionen

Coach education program: Improve education opportunities for luge coaches to support the development of athletes and the sport.

Youth Recruitment Campaign: Strategic initiatives to attract and retain young talents in the sport of luge.

Future race formats: Discuss innovative race formats to improve the spectator experience and competitiveness of luge events.

Women's doubles: Discussion of developments, experiences, and opportunities in the women's doubles sector.

Other: Discussion of all other matters that are important for the further development of the sport of luge.

Motions and amendments to the luge rules: Discussion of motions and proposed amendments to the IRO 2024 regulations.

"The annual Commission meetings serve as an important platform for collaboration and decision-making within the luge community to ensure that the sport continues to develop and thrive on a global level," announced FIL Sport Director Matthias Böhmer.
