Eröffnung Fendt

Berchtesgaden (RWH) With a small celebration, the new office of the International Luge Federation (FIL) was officially inaugurated in Berchtesgaden (GER). In his opening speech, the President of the FIL, Josef Fendt of Germany, looked back at the beginning of the FIL Office more than 20 years ago and mentioned, that now there are three offices of international wintersport federations located in close neighborhood. The staff offices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) and of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) are just across the border in Salzburg and Großgmain.

Fendt was happy to welcome Franz Rasp, the mayor of Berchtesgaden, Rudolf Schaupp, deputy District Administrator of the region, delegates from the German Federation (BSD) and all members of the executive board of the FIL. The Committee came together earlier this day for their first meeting in the new location.

The new FIL office occupies the entire ground floor of the newly erected building and has space for a reception area and offices for the president, executive director and several employees. The meeting room can accommodate up to 14 people. A suitable area has also been reserved for the FIL’s “Hall of Fame”. The new premises also have an underground car park, a lift, and private rooms which hold the FIL archive.

The previous FIL office had been located in an old building just 150 metres from the new building since 22 January 1993. From its humble beginnings, the headquarters of the international federation has developed into a modern service company with a total of five full-time employees.
