Fred Zimny appointed FIL’s new development manager

Riga (RWH) Fred Zimny has been appointed as the new development manager of the International Luge Federation (FIL). The FIL Executive Board announced the successor to Romania’s Ioan Apostol at its autumn conference in Riga, Latvia.

Ioan Apostol, who has decided to retire from his role, handed over his business affairs in the FIL office in Berchtesgaden. Fred Zimny has ​​worked in several roles at the US federation for many years. Most recently, the 58-year-old was involved with the development of young talent. The Executive Board expressly thanked Ioan Apostol, who was responsible for the FIL’s development work for 16 years. In 1992 Apostol and his partner Liviu Cepoi took fourth place in the doubles at the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville.
