Hand-crafted sled to mark 25 years of partnership with Viessmann

PyeongChang (RWH): The Viessmann Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heating, industrial and cooling systems, and the International Luge Federation (FIL) have been in partnership together for 25 years. This milestone provides the international sporting association with the ideal occasion to express their gratitude. As part of a small celebration during the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang (KOR), Professor Martin Viessmann was awarded with a hand-crafted sled made by the Berchtesgaden sled school, presented to him by the FIL’s President Josef Fendt.

The carefully produced piece was made by Andreas Dengler, who based his design on a bronze sculpture given to Fendt by Juan Antonio Samaranch (1920 - 2010). Samaranch was President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) between 1980 and 2001.

“There has never been such a long-standing partnership in international sport as that between Viessmann and the FIL” said Fendt during his thank-you speech in Kufenstüberl. He explained that the FIL was proud to have such a respected company as an ally for such a long time.

Professor Martin Viessmann mentioned in his acknowledgment the start of the Sponsoring of his company started with luge. He emphasized the merit of President Fendt, the FIL and the Berchtesgaden-based marketing company RGS under the leadership of Rudi Grösswang. Since the Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Martin Viessmann attended the games in person. He was accompanied by his wife Anette and daughter Katharina.

The company, which is based in Allendorf in the North Hessen region of Germany, is the primary and title sponsor of the luge world cup. Viessmann employs 12,000 people worldwide and generates a turnover of EUR 2.25 billion. A total of 54% of its turnover comes from overseas.
