Helmut Ruetz appointed new General Secretary of the Austrian Luge Federation

 Innsbruck (RWH) Helmut Ruetz is the new General Secretary of the Austrian Luge Federation (ÖRV). Ruetz will succeed Reinhard Poller, who is set to become Managing Director of the Austrian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation. The ÖRV revealed that Ruetz will takes up his post in October this year.

 Helmut Ruetz has a background in natural track luge, where he and his brother Andreas formed the most successful doubles duo of the 1990s. They were World Champions once, won three European Championship gold medals and enjoyed a total of 15 World Cup wins and four overall victories.

 Austria’s lugers won three medals at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang: gold (David Gleirscher, men’s singles), silver (Peter Penz/Georg Fischler, men’s doubles) and bronze (team relay).
