Berchtesgaden (RWH) The first weekend in February 2019 is set to host the highlight of the season for junior luge athletes: the Junior World Championships. The International Luge Federation’s (FIL) 34th Junior World Championships are due to be held on the iconic artificial track in Innsbruck-Igls.

The season will also include six Junior World Cup events, opening with a double race in Park City in the US state of Utah in December. The third race of the season will then be held in Calgary (CAN) prior to the Christmas break.

The new year will open with an international training week on the natural ice track in St. Moritz (SUI). Looking ahead to the third Youth Olympic Games in 2020, the chic Swiss resort will then provide the venue for the fourth Junior World Cup race of the season. St. Moritz will host the luge, bobsleigh and skeleton events when the Games take place in Lausanne in two years’ time. Following the FIL’s 34th Junior World Championships in Innsbruck, the World Cup season will end with two races in Winterberg and Oberhof (both GER).
