Tove and Svante Kohala win the Nordic Cup in Lillehammer

Nordic Cup 2024

Lillehammer (FIL/17. Mrz. 2024) From March 13 to 17, 2024, the Nordic Cup took place for the third time in the three Olympic ice track sports of luge, bobsleigh and skeleton in Lillehammer (NOR).

The aim of the Nordic Cup is to give both beginners and experienced athletes the opportunity to train and take part in competitions. For many sliding athletes, the step to the Junior World Cup and Bobsleigh or Skeleton European Cup is quite big. Another aim is to bring the Nordic countries and the various sled sports together to meet, socialize and learn.

Nordic Cup Men, 2024

Svante Kohala was the fastest luger among the eleven men taking part in the singles event at the Nordic Cup on March 16, 2024. The 26-year-old Swede won with two fastest start and run times in a total of 1:34.513 minutes ahead of Norway's Ola Brandstadmoen (+0.251) and his compatriot Rasmus Moberg (+1.131). The participants in the men's singles came from Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Nordic Cup Women, 2024

Svante's sister Tove Kohala was the fastest in the women's singles in 1:37.236 minutes from the women's start. The 23-year-old Swede won ahead of her 17-year-old cousin Johanna Kohala and Ireland's Elsa Desmond (+2.165). The best Norwegian female luge athlete, Lina Harnes, finished fourth (+2.194).

Nordic Cup Doubles, 2024

In an open "Newcomer" category, starting in turn 7, another 14 sleds competed, including the doubles Elsa Desmond/Lily Cooke (Ireland) as well as Ola Brandstadmoen/Joachim Klaastd from Norway and Tristan Jeskanen/Janne Saarinen from Finland.
