Innsbruck-Igls (pps) Canada is the surprise winner of the Viessmann Team Relay Event presented by INTERSPORT at the season opener of the World Cup series in Innsbruck-Igls. The team of coach Wolfgang Staudinger with Alex Gough, Sam Edney and Tristan Walker-Justin Snith defeated top favourites Germany. The team with Tatjana Huefner, Andi Langenhan and Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt had to make do with second place ahead of Russia’s team with Tatjana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko and Vladislav Yushakov-Vladimir Makhnutin.

A total of 5,200 spectators on two competition days followed the season opener of the World Cup series in Innsbruck-Igls. Apart from the luge competitions the visitors enjoyed a colourful social programme featuring live music as well as a skydiving demonstration.
