| Koenigssee host of the 2016 FIL World Championships | |
Riga (pps) The artificial track at Koenigssee has been awarded the 46th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in 2016. Sochi/RUS, the competitive candidate, withdrew its bid at the 60th FIL Congress in Riga on June 15-16, 2012. In the past, Koenigssee hosted the FIL World Championships in 1969, 1970, 1974, 1979 and 1999.
The hosts of the 2015 World Championships have already been appointed – Sigulda (Latvia) will organize the 45th FIL Luge World Championships Artificial Track. Krasnaya Polyana (Russia) will carry out the 20th FIL Luge World Championships Natural Track.
