Beijing (FIL) A nine-member delegation of the International Luge Federation, FIL and by track construction and engineering experts travelled to Beijing and Yanqing (CHN) from 14 to 18 August 2021 for the pre-inspection of the new sports facility and planning of the first luge competitions in China.

FIL Executive Director Christoph Schweiger underlined the importance of this trip to China: "The pre-check was of extreme importance. The new Olympic track was checked and it turned out that only a few works still have to be done. Especially the clarification of the formalities regarding the entry requirements and visa regulations, the simplification of the medical protocols and health declarations under the current Covid-19 conditions as well as the organisation of the TV production for our World Cup was of immense importance for us".

The luge, skeleton and bobsleigh competitions of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games starting on 4 February 2022 will then be held at the same venue.

"We now feel well prepared and have the knowledge about the next organisational steps. The organising team from China around the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games (BOCOG) has prepared everything very well. The hospitality and helpfulness we experienced was enormous," Executive Director Schweiger reported.
