The organizers of the 15th World Luge Championships on natural track held in Latsch/Laces in Italy at the last weekend of January are looking back onto an outstanding event. In addition to 3,000 spectators at the track, FIL President Josef Fendt, Vice-Presidents Harald Steyrer, Alfred Jud and Werner Kropsch, Tim Gayda from the Organizing Committee of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver had come to Latsch as well. He was impressed by the high level of the event and the athletic performance displayed in the sport and asked for a lot of facts to be explained to him in detail. However, he also pointed out that he is not in a position to make any statement about the sport´s chances of being included in the Olympic program. This is a decision to be made only by the IOC, said Gayda.
