Smokovec/Slovakia (FIL): The 17th FIL World Championships in Moos in Italy as well as six World Cups in four different countries are scheduled on the calendar of Natural Track, which has been decided by the Executive Board of the International Luge Association (FIL) on the occasion of the spring meeting in Smokovec (Slovakia).
The meeting was excellently prepared by the Slovakian Association, above all thanks to Executive Member Maria Jacencakova and the long-term representative trainer Walter Marx. Highlights of the social and cultural program were the invitation by Frantisek Chmelar, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOK) of Slovakia, as well as the reception by the mayor.
According to the FIL Board decision, the World Championships Natural Track as the season’s highlight will now take place in Moos, February 12 – 15, 2009. The World Cup Calendar comprises five locations (Lungariü/ITA, St. Sebastian/AUT, Umhausen/AUT, Unterammergau/GER und Ekatarinenburg/RUS) and closes with a double event in the Ural Mountains. Host of the 8th Horn Sled European Championships is the Italian Lüsen. For the 7th Junior European Championship, the event location has not been determined yet.
The event calendar Artificial Track will be decided by the FIL Executive Board in June.
