St.Moritz (pps) The International Luge Federation (FIL) mourns the death of Werner Camichel. The manager of the Olympia Bobrun St.Moritz, who greatly contributed to the success of the 2000 World Luge Championships, died on Monday, March 24, 2006, aged 61 after a long illness.
At the 1972 Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo, Werner Camichel won the gold medal in four-man bobsleigh together with Jean Wicki, Hans Leutenegger and Edy Hubacher. Four years later, the two-time World Champion was the Swiss flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck.
