Park City (pps) Olympic Silver medalists Mark Grimmette/Brian Martin advanced to the most successful drivers in US Luge history. At the opening of the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Park City, the defending World Cup Champions won in 1:27,641 minutes their 7th World Cup race and their 32nd overall medal in international competions. So far Chris Thorpe with 31 medails was together with Grimmette/Martin the most successful athlete.
Second place went to Olympic Champions Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (1:27,730) from Germany followed by Austria`s Andreas and Wolfgang Linger (1:28,183). They advanced from 9th place after the first run for the second time after Lake Placid 2001 to the podium.

Mark Grimmette (Olympic silver medalist): “We have a lot of expierience. There is no big money in Luge, we drive just for fun. It is a great title to have, but I hope it will not end with the success here in Park City. We won already the overall World Cup title, so we are more interested in the World Championsships at Sigulda.”

Patric Leitner (Olympic Champion): “This was a good start in the season and a very close race. We are happy about our second place. I have to say that all US doubles teams are damn fast.”

Andreas Linger (Austria): “This is our best result after 3rd place last year in Lake Placid. We did have a lot of luck in the second run. I think our material was perfect for the weather conditions.”
