Warsaw. The olympic bob and luge track in Salt Lake City will be venue of the 2005 Luge World Championships. This was decided during the 49th Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Warsaw . The natural track luge World Championships were awarded to Latsch (Italy).
The luge track in Park City, at which the Olympic races in luge, bobsleigh and skeleton will take place in February 2002, was successful with 19 votes against the competitor from Germany, the track in Oberhof (10).
The FIL Congress awarded the World Junior Championships in 2005 to Winterberg in Germany, who won very narrowly with 15 votes compared to Calgary’s 14.
Oberhof, who had staged Luge World Championships for the last time in 1985, unsuccessfully bidded for this competition for the third time already. In 2004, Oberhof will be venue of the biathlon World Championships.
