Cesana Pariol (pps) The Olympic track for the 2006 Winter Games in Cesana Pariol has successfully cleared its last hurdle. After modifications were carried out to its lower part, the track was now homologated by the International Luge Federation (FIL). After test runs of the Italian A and B teams including Olympic champion Armin Zöggeler, the homologation certificate was signed by the chairman of the FIL track construction commission Klaus Bonsack and the longtime German federal coach Sepp Lenz as a member of the FIL track construction commission.
The constructional changes to the artificial track for luge, bobsleigh and skeleton primarily affected curves 17 and 18. With these modifications, the safety of the athletes was improved. The international baptism of fire of this most recently built artificially refrigerated track will be at the Viessmann World Cup on November 19 and 20.
The 2006 Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 10 to 26. In Cesana Pariol, medals will be awarded in three luge disciplines. Besides, the bobsleigh and skeleton competitions will be held there.
