Sigulda (pps) Latvia with the athletes Maija Tiruma, Martins Rubenis and Andris Sics-Juris Sics were the 2008 winners on the artificial track in Cesana, taking the European Championship title in the team relay. Austria took second place (Veronika Halder, Martin Abentung and Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger) ahead of Italy (Sandra Gasparini, Armin Zoeggeler and Gerhard Plankensteiner-Oswald Haselrieder).
Germany's Natalie Geisenberger earned the European title in the women's singles ahead of compatriot Tatjana Huefner and Austria's Veronika Halder. In the men's singles Italy's Armin Zoeggeler celebrated a victory ahead of Albert Demchenko (Russia) and Germany's David Moeller. Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber of Italy were the winners in the double-seater ahead of Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger (Austria). Tied for third place were Germany's Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch and Italy's Gerhard Plankensteiner-Oswald Halselrieder.
