2009/10: Huefner, Florschuetz-Wustlich and Loch‘s first World Cup victory
Oberhof (pps) Three events, three German winners - and the rest of the medals evenly distributed: These are the results in a nutshell of the last luge World Cup that was carried out in Altenberg in December 2009.
Tatjana Huefner, Natalie Geisenberger and Anke Wischnewski were the winners in the women’s singles, again emphasizing the German dominance in this discipline. By contrast, the medals in the men’s singles were distributed among three nations. Felix Loch celebrated the first of his now two World Cup victories, defeating Italy’s Armin Zoeggeler and Russia’s Albert Demchenko to second and third place respectively.
In the doubles’ Germany’s team with André Florschuetz-Torsten Wustlich posted a victory. Austria’s Peter Penz-Georg Fischler celebrated in Altenberg 2009 their third podium finish after the 2008-2009 World Cups in Sigulda (3rd) and Calgary (2nd), relegating compatriots and Olympic champions Andreas and Wolfgang Linger to an eventual fourth place. Third place went to Italy’s Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber. By the way – last time round the current overall leaders Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt earned a fifth place in Altenberg.
