Lausanne (RWH) Milan–Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy will host the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. At their 134th session in Lausanne (SUI), the members of the International Olympic Committee IOC awarded the north Italian Metropole and the hotspot of the Dolomitis with the XXV Winter Games ahead of Stockholm, Sweden. Swedish and Italian IOC Members were not allowed to vote.

For Italy, it’s the third time as host country of Olympic Winter Games after 1956 in Cortina d’Ampezzo and 2006 in Turin. Armin Zöggeler, one of the most successful luge athletes ever, was member of the Italian Delegation, which was headed by Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte.

The Olympic luge, bobsleigh and skeleton competitions of the 2026 Games are due to take place at the „Eugenio Monti Olympic Track“ in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The track in the 1956 Olympic host city was closed in 2008 and shall be reconstructed.
