FIL World Cup Steering Group Visits the OC Team in Lillehammer

Lillehammer (FIL/29. Mai 2024) As part of the preparations for the opening event of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup 2024/2025, the World Cup Steering Group of the International Luge Federation (FIL) visited the legendary 1994 Lillehammer Olympic track in Norway. Led by FIL Sports Director Matthias Böhmer and Technical Director Andris Sics, the inspection of the track and the organizational meeting took place to ensure that all conditions for a successful World Cup kickoff are met.

The visit was particularly aimed at optimizing TV production and the visibility of World Cup sponsors. Additionally, sporting and technical processes, media zones, and supporting programs were discussed. During the organizational meeting, the representatives of the Lillehammer Olympic Park Association met with the Norwegian Luge Federation, the track managers, and the FIL Steering Group at the Olympic track in Hunderfossen.

A key focus was the collaboration with the new FIL TV Coordinator, Vera Bichler, who, along with Björn Werner, also known as "Fritz" from the marketing agency RGS, and Technical Director Andris Sics, determined the camera positions for the Luge World Cup.

FIL Sports Director Matthias Böhmer emphasized the importance of this pre-visit: "Our goal is to create the best possible conditions for athletes, spectators, and sponsors. Lillehammer, with its traditional Olympic track and excellent infrastructure, provides the ideal conditions for this. The OC team is working very professionally and motivated. There are many good ideas and the highest level of competence in organizing a successful World Cup kickoff. I am particularly pleased about the opening ceremony planned by the OC for the World Cup in Lillehammer. It will be a great start to the season."

The cooperation between the various organizations and the detailed planning on-site lay the foundation for a smooth process and an unforgettable sporting event.

The action kicks off in 210 days, on November 29, 2024, with the first Nations Cup as the World Cup qualification for the premiere of the EBERSPAECHER World Cup 2024/2025 in Norway.
