29 nations attend International Training Week in PyeongChang

PyeongChang (RWH): A record number of 29 nations have registered for the International Training Week at the Alpensia Sliding Centre. The event has been organised by the International Luge Federation (FIL) in cooperation with the organizing committee POCOG to give teams a chance to prepare for the Winter Olympic Games in the Korean city of PyeongChang (9 – 25 February 2018).  A total of 66 men, 52 women and 32 doubles’ teams will test the future Olympic track between 2 and 11 November.

The FIL will allocate the total of 110 Olympic spots available to athletes at the first five Viessman World Cup races of the Olympic season. Participation in the International Training Week is one of the eligibility requirements for Olympic athletes.

The following countries have registered for the ITW: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Georgia, Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Sweden, Suisse,Taipei, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States of America.
