29th FIL Summer Luge Cup in Ilmenau

Ilmenau (FIL) Since the summer of 1993, the FIL Summer Luge Cup has always taken place in September in Ilmenau (GER). On September 2 and 3, 2022, the lugers will compete for the 29th time on the summer sledding track "Wolfram Fiedler" at the Lindenberg in Ilmenau. 

400 spectators came to the 430-metre-long luge track in September 2021, after the cancellation the year before due to the pandemic. 40 lugers from four nations (Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland) took part in the traditional race in a sunny and relaxed atmosphere. Germany's Julia Taubitz and Johannes Ludwig entered the ranking lists of the FIL Summer Luge Cup in Ilmenau as winners in 2021. However, the leaders in the rankings are Dajana Eitberger with 13 and Andi Langenhan with ten victories at the Summer Cup.

Luge festival for the whole family

The International Summer Luge Cup will be accompanied by an entertaining programme for the whole family at the track on the Lindenberg with the Dixieland combo "Sunshine Brass", an autograph session by the well-known luge champs Dajana Eitberger, Julia Taubitz and Max Langenhahn as well as face painting for children, a bouncy castle, information and participation stands and a range of drinks and Thuringian bratwurst are all part of the programme.

On the same weekend, just one day after the professionals on 4 September, the Ilmenau Luge Club will be holding a children's beginner's session. All children from the age of 5 are invited who would like to get a taste of sledding and try it out on the track. Of course, experienced trainers will be present to show them how to do it properly.

The FIL Somme Luge Cup is a summer event in luge. Since 1993, it has been held in September in Ilmenau (Thuringia) on the "Wolfram Fiedler" luge track. It is organised by the FIL (Fédération Internationale de Luge). The organiser is the Ilmenau Luge Club. As in previous years, there will be an international training week beforehand in 2022 from 29.08.2022 to 01.09.2022.
