Lake Placid (pps) Italy`s Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber have won the doubles` competion at the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Lake Placid (USA). Only ninth after the first heat they realized their first World Cup success with the fastest time in the second run. They won with a total time of 1:30,679 minutes followed by Germany`s Sebastian Schmidt/Andre Forker (1:30,849) and Austrians Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger (1:30,930) from Austria.Quotes:Christian Oberstolz (Italy): We have never thought about this. Ninth after the first round and, at last, a winner. It is unbeliievable.Sebastian Schmidt (Germany): We are sliding for the first time in Lake Placid and have had great problems during training. The first run was really bad, the second one better. Being second in the end - this is a big surprise for us.Andreas Linger (Austria): This third place is a good argument for the Olympic nomination in Austria. We have fulfilled the nomination criteria.
