Sigulda (pps) Olympic Champion Sylke Otto is still the best luge women in the world. 33 year old german won the title for the thrid time after 2002 and 2001 at the World Championsships in luge. It was the 25th gold medal for Germany in women`s luge.
The overall champion of viessmann luge world cup clocked in first run an new track record in 42,713 seconds. With a total time of one minute 25,602 seconds Sylke Otto won the title followed by her teammates Silke Kraushaar (1:25,628), Olympic Champion 1998, and Olympic silber medalist Barbara Niedernhuber (1:15,151).
Watched by Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Latvia`s president, Anna Orlova (1:26,182) missed the bronze medal.
Brenna Margol from USA finished 10th in 1:26,796. Canada`s regan Lausher finished 14th (1:27,145).
