No break for the Natural Track lugers in the RED BULL-World Cup. After having competed in Umhausen in Tyrol few days ago, today, Thursday, the whole circuit moved to Moscow where this weekend the third competition in this winter will be held.
The track was built 80 kilometers outside the Russian Capitale in the area of a sports center. “We hope that our expectations come true”, World Cup coordinator Herbert Wurzer said. Regarding to the organizers, some thousands of spectators should attend the event.
Herbert Wurzer gives also a high importance to the races in Moscow, the only ones outside the middle European Alps. “In our circuit, there are athletes from Nordamerica and from Eastern Europe”, Wurzer said. “It is necessary to go with our World Cup in different geographical areas, like Canada or USA or Scandinavia. In future, we should be able to realize this.”
In Moscow, Robert Batkowski (AUT), Barbara Abart (ITA) and the Polish double seater Andrzej Laszczak/Damian Waniczek compete as leaders in the overall classification. From Russia, the World Cup will come back to middle Europe, precisely to Hüttau (AUT/January 24th/26th) and Unterammergau (GER/January 28th/30th).
