Zwickau (FIL) The International FIL Summer Cup in Luge in Zwickau (GER) will celebrate its 40th edition from May 13 to 15, 2022. For decades, the FIL Summer Cup has been one of the luge competitions on roller sleds with the largest number of participants. The venue is the plastic luge track in the Westsachsenstadion in Zwickau. 

After two years of "Corona break", the organisers of the local ESV Lokomotive Zwickau club are again looking forward to many registrations and numerous guests of honour. A total of 132 athletes from six nations have registered for the 40th edition of the traditional event. The participants will come from Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Germany. 
In addition to the individual competitions on Saturday in the age groups Youth C, Youth B, Youth A, Juniors, General Class and Seniors, the highlight of the event on Sunday will be the international comparison for the Cup of the Mayor of the City of Zwickau and a team competition.

Among others, Julia Taubitz (Olympic seventh and two-time overall World Cup winner), Melina Fischer (Junior European Champion), Max Langenhan (Olympic sixth) and Chris Eißler will compete. Chris Eißler from Zwickau only ended his long career in the German national team this year. 

An exciting supporting programme has been organised for the 40th anniversary of the FIL Summer Cup in Zwickau. The competitions will be complemented by a start competition on Friday for the youth and junior classes. The arrival of the nations will start on Wednesday. The training runs will also start on Wednesday, daily from 9 a.m. on the summer luge track in the Westsachsenstadion. The luge competitions will then begin on Friday. Also on Friday, the public drawing of the starting numbers will take place at 6 pm. Another highlight of the event will be a panel discussion with active and former luge stars after the individual competitions on Saturday, starting at 5.30 p.m.
