Russia again at the top / Germany collected seven medals
Paramonovo (pps) Two gold medals, twice – Russia’s lugers were the “big winners”, both at the 42nd FIL Luge European Championships in 2010 and at the 2012 Europeans. Tatiana Ivanova repeated her surprise victory of Sigulda in 2010 on her home track in Paramonovo, Russia two years later. Germany’s Andi Langenhan became successor to her teammate Albert Demchenko, who claimed the title in 2010. Austria’s “No.2” in the doubles, Peter Penz and Georg Fischler, earned their first big international title while Russia capitalized on their home advantage in the Team Relay event as Ivanova, Demchenko and Vladislav Yuzhakov-Vladimir Makhnutin claimed gold ahead of Germany and Italy. With a total of seven medals Germany was the most successful nation, in terms of medal count, in Paramonovo.
