Berlin (pps) A total of 45 women, 63 men and 35 doubles teams from 25 nations competed in the 30th edition of the Viessmann Luge World Cup in the 2006/2007 season. This was now determined by the International Luge Federation (FIL). With Germany, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, the Ukraine, and the USA, eight nations were on the podium.

With seven victories, Silke Kraushaar-Pielach (Germany) not only achieved the greatest number of individual victories, but also won the overall Viessmann World Cup. Italy’s Armin Zöggeler won the overall Viessmann World Cup with six individual victories. The greatest number of podium positions was achieved by Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (Germany), who climbed the winners’ rostrum eight times in nine competitions, four times as winners and four times as silver medalists.

A total of eight men’s singles athletes, six women’s singles athletes and seven doubles teams made it to the podium at least once during the season.
