4th Junior World Cup and 44th FIL Junior European Championships in Altenberg, Germany

Altenberg (FIL/12 Dec 2022) More than 100 young luge athletes from 13 nations will be at the start of the Junior World Cup and the FIL Junior European Championships in Altenberg (GER) on Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17, 2022.
The fourth Junior World Cup (JWC) of the 2022/23 season will take place this week on the World Cup track of the year 2024, at the SachsenEnergie-Eiskanal Altenberg. After Norway's Lillehammer (double JWC) and Winterberg, Saxony's Altenberg will be the fourth stop of this international junior racing series.
Thereby, the 44th FIL Junior European Championships will also be held in the so-called "Race in Race" mode. Training for the races on the challenging artificial track in the Osterzgebirge will start on Monday, December 12.
Four disciplines will be raced: Women’s and Men’s Singles as well as Women’s and Men’s Doubles. In addition, there is a team competition. On Friday, it will be the turn of the Doubles and Women`s Singles), before the final Team Competition, the Men will compete in the Singles on Saturday.

After two seasons of corona-related restrictions, spectators are again allowed at the SachsenEnergie-Eiskanal this winter. Access to the track area is exclusively via Bornweg (Gate B). Tickets cost 6.00 euros (reduced 3.00 euros) and are available on the race days at the box office. On the training days (12 - 15.12.2022), admission is free.
