Executive Board accepts Turkey and Tonga as provisional members
Liberec (pps) The luge family keeps growing. Prior to the 57th Congress in Liberec (CZE), the Executive Board of the world federation FIL accepted Turkey and Tonga in Oceania as provisional member nations. Both nations may be approved as full members of the FIL at the 2010 Congress in Sochi, Russia, if they have started to practice luge by then. With this, the FIL now has 52 member nations on four continents.

„I will continue to work on my goal to get Africa, the missing fifth continent, involved in luge and make the fifth Olympic ring come to life for us“, FIL President Josef Fendt said at the beginning of the Congress.
