Inspired by inclusion of Team Relay Event within Olympic Games Program Berlin (pps) Inspired by the inclusion of the Team Relay Event within the Program of Olympic Games the 59th FIL Congress of the International Luge Federation, FIL, will convene in Berlin on Friday and Saturday (July 1-2, 2011). Right on time for the 50th anniversary of luge at Olympic Games all four FIL disciplines (women’s and men’s singles, doubles and Team Relay Event) will be part of the Olympic Program as of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The Congress agenda comprises the statements of accounts of FIL President Josef Fendt (GER) and Secretary General Svein Romstad (USA). Additionally, the International Luge Federation will present its new strategic plan and will be informed about the current state of preparations of the 43rd FIL Luge World Championships in Altenberg (GER) in 2012 as well as the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The delegates will moreover determine the hosts of the 45th FIL Luge World Championships artificial track in 2015 and the 19th FIL Luge World Championships on natural track in 2013. During the 59th FIL Congress, the German Bobsleigh and Sled Sports Federation, BSD, will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Federal Minister of the Interior and Sport Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich will deliver the commemorative speech on Friday. On Thursday, the City of Berlin invites all delegates to attend a reception at the City Hall “Rotes Rathaus”.
