71st FIL Congress in Bucharest on June 17-18

Berchtesgaden (FIL/05 June 2023) Originally, at the 69th FIL Congress in Salzburg (AUT) last September, the Ukrainian city of Lviv was selected as the Congress site for 2023. However, it was necessary to move the Congress due to the ongoing war of aggression by Russia in Ukraine and the difficult planning conditions and security situation. After the Romanian federation offered to host the Congress for our sport friends from Ukraine, the FIL Executive Board resolved – on September 23 and 24, 2022 at the Tyrol winter sports site of Imst (AUT) – to move the 2023 FIL Congress site to Romania. The 71st FIL Congress will now take place on June 17 and 18, 2023, in Bucharest.

Delegates from the 52 member nations of FIL have been invited to the FIL World Congress. The presidium and members of the executive board will report on their work on Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18, 2023. The agenda includes special tributes, presentations by the organizers of the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Korea and the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina (ITA) as well as awarding of FIL championship venues through the year 2027. Bringing the Congress to a close, there will be a new election for Vice President for Finance on Sunday. Philipp Trattner, section chief for sports in the Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service, and Sports in Austria, was elected to the position at the 70th FIL Congress in Hall in Tyrol, but he unable serve in this role any longer due to his job commitments.
