74th FIL Congress 2026 in Berchtesgaden
FIL Strategy SLIDE 2030 +4 and New Elections
Berchtesgaden (FIL/07Apr 2026) The international luge family will gather in the Bavarian Alps in June 2026: The 74th Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) will take place from June 8 to 9, 2026 at the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden (GER).
The host of the Congress is the German Bobsleigh and Sled Federation (BSD). Delegates are scheduled to arrive on Sunday, June 7, and depart on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
Delegates from national member federations, representatives of international sports organizations, and guests from the luge world are expected to attend the annual FIL Congress. The focus will be on the strategic development of international luge as well as important sports policy and organizational decisions.
The Congress will be opened on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. by FIL President Einars Fogelis. The agenda includes, among other items, the work reports of the FIL Executive, financial reports, and discussions on motions regarding the statutes and the International Luge Regulations (IRO). In addition, topics related to the further development of the sport as well as the FIL strategic plans SLIDE 2026 and SLIDE 2034 will be addressed.
Another important item is the discussion and decision-making regarding current sports policy issues, including the resolution on the participation of Russian athletes in FIL competitions.
On the second day of the Congress, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the organizing committees will provide updates on preparations for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps (La Plagne) and the 2028 Winter Youth Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo. In addition, candidates for future FIL Championships will present their bids. The agenda also includes the awarding of FIL Championships through 2030, elections in accordance with the FIL Statutes, and the selection of the Congress venue for 2028.
Congress participants will be accommodated at the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden. Registration must be completed via a digital registration link by March 30, 2026 at the latest.
The BSD and the FIL look forward to welcoming the international luge community to the historic winter sports resort of Berchtesgaden.
