Lillehammer (RWH) The Olympic track in the Norwegian city of Lillehammer is a popular training venue. To start the winter following the last Olympic Games, a dozen national teams, a delegation from Oberhof, Germany, and the training group run by the International Luge Federation (FIL) are making the most of the training facilities at the artificial track, which was built for the Winter Olympics in 1994.

Less than eight weeks before the season opens with the Viessmann World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls on 29-30 November 2014, the national teams from Austria, Italy, Russia, Latvia, Poland, Japan, France, Sweden, Great Britain, Romania, the USA, and host nation Norway, started their ice training in Lillehammer. The training facilities are also being used by a team from Oberhof and the FIL group headed by Ioan Apostol, FIL development manager.

During the coming season, the artificial track in Lillehammer will host the 7th Viessmann World Cup on 31 January and 1 February. The 1994 Olympic city is due to host the second Winter Youth Olympics in 2016. In preparation, the international training week for juniors and subsequent World Championships will be held in Lillehammer in January 2015.
