43rd FIL Luge World Championships boast prize money of 30,000 Euro
Altenberg (pps) The 43rd FIL Luge World Championships in Altenberg (GER) of the International Luge Federation, FIL, will be quite lucrative for the participating athletes. “A total of 30,000 Euros will be distributed at these Worlds”, explained FIL President Josef Fendt at the Media Seminar at the venue of the World Championships. Fendt referred to the second World Championships in the Ore Mountains after 1996 as the „season’s highlight“. “I’m confident that the 43rd FIL Luge World Championships will turn out to be a social and media highlight of the sport of luge”, added the former two-time World champion.
In the upcoming winter the International Luge Federation will offer prize money of more than a quarter million Euro. The Viessmann Luge World Cup series with its four disciplines (women’s and men’s singles, doubles’ and Team Relay Event) boasts prize money of almost 220,000 Euros alone. Together with the prize money in luge on natural tracks, the FIL offers prize money totaling more than 300,000 Euros.
