Advance visit to congress venue in Lake Placid

Besichtigung Lake Placid

Lake Placid (RWH)  Vice President Harald Steyrer and Executive Director Christoph Schweiger paid a visit to Lake Placid, New York, to inspect the venue for the 64th Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL). The two Austrians saw for themselves how preparations for the event are progressing. Lake Placid, a two-time Olympic city (1932 and 1980), is set to host the annual meeting of delegates from the member associations of the FIL for the first time from 16 to 19 June 2016. Their host was Jim Leahy, Secretary General of the US Federation (USLA).

The FIL Executive Board is also due to meet in Atlanta (USA) next weekend to prepare for the 64th FIL Congress. This is the first time that the city, which hosted the summer Olympics back in 1996 and is also home to FIL Secretary General Svein Romstad, will host a meeting of the FIL Executive Board.
