Zreče (pps) Italy’s Marie-Luise Rainer, until now Sports Coordinator of the International Luge Federation (FIL), will become FIL Sports Director Artificial Track on April 1, 2014. This decision was taken by the FIL Executive Board during its Autumn Meeting in Zreče (Slovenia). Ahead of the 2010-2011 season Rainer succeeded Karl-Heinz Anschütz of Germany. During her active luge career, Marie-Luise Rainer won the overall World Cup ranking in the 1985-1986 season. Additionally, she earned a bronze medal at the 1979 World Championships and a silver medal at the 1980 Europeans. After the end of her active career Rainer became an official, worked as a coach for Canada and Italy. She has also been working as Technical Delegate at FIL Junior World Cup events for many years.
