Park City, Utah (pps) Olympian Chris Mazdzer and 2008 Junior World Champion Kate Hansen will head the 14-member team of USA Luge for the Viessmann Luge World Cups in November and December. On the 2002 Olympic track at Utah Olympic Park, the two U.S. champions managed to win the second and final seeding race on October 20. In the doubles area, USA Luge has nominated three doubles: the current U.S. champions Jake Hyrns-Andrew Sherk as well as Matt Mortensen-Preston Griffall and Christian Niccum-Jayson Terdiman. In addition to Kate Hansen who started in Park City despite a broken fifth metatarsal bone in her right foot, Julia Clukey and 2009 World Champion, Erin Hamlin, have been nominated. Summer Britcher as well as Tucker West, Taylor Morris and Matt’s brother, Joe Mortensen, will also be part of the U.S. team in the individual races. The 10-member U.S. luge team for the Olympic Games in Sochi will be nominated in mid-December.
