Wendl-Arlt now with 12 career wins

Koenigssee (pps) Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt have collected their 12th career victory at the Viessmann Luge World Cup on the artificially refrigerated track in Koenigssee. Thanks to their second top podium finish this season the German 2012 European silver medalists have taken the lead in the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings with the maximum possible number of 200 points to their credit.
>br> Their teammates Toni Eggert-Sascha Benecken, 2012 World silver medalists, claimed second place (0.415 seconds behind). Austria’s two-time Olympic champions Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger (0.949 seconds behind) finished on third place while their compatriots Peter Penz-Georg Fischler claimed fourth place ahead of Italy’s European champions Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber. Similar to last week at the season’s opener in Innsbruck, Canada's doubles team with Tristan Walker-Justin Snith again earned a seventh place finish and were thus able to repeat their so far best result on a luge track in Europe. >br>>br> Quotes

Tobias Arlt (GER / 2012 European silver medalist)
>br> “We would have liked to compete in Cesana because we wanted to take revenge for the defeat at the 2011 World Championships. But to claim a victory in front of a home crowd is very nice indeed. We didn’t really have more practice runs than our opponents, but of course it’s always an advantage to compete ‘back home’.”

Toni Eggert (GER / 2012 World silver medalist)

“Well, it’s not too difficult to get used to second place finishes - even though we certainly want to claim a podium’s top spot again. In the second run we weren’t that far away from both Tobias.”

Andreas Linger (AUT / two-time Olympic and three-time World champion) “It’s always good to claim a podium finish, especially so in Koenigssee. But of course we are still aiming for a top spot on the podium here in Koenigssee…”
