Mainz (pps) Once again the live broadcast of the Team Relay at the Viessmann World Cup in Altenberg achieved excellent ratings on German public television. 3.65 million television spectators watched the German team’s fifth victory at the fifth event on German public television station ZDF. This translates into a market share of 20.1 per cent. These figures once again underline the attractiveness of the Team Relay. Before the beginning of the season, the International Luge Federation (FIL) had enhanced the importance of this competition by making it part of the Viessmann World Cup. In spring 2011, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Belgium’s Jacques Rogge, will decide on the inclusion of the Team Relay in the program of future Olympic Winter Games. On February 20, 2011, Rogge will have a close look at the Team Relay at the season’s Viessmann World Cup final in Sigulda, Latvia. This coming weekend, a high-ranking IOC delegation will attend the 42nd FIL World Championships in Cesana, Italy, to watch the Team Relay competition. The Team Relay has been part of the program of FIL World Championships since 2008.
