Berchtesgaden (RWH) Following his retirement, the Russian Albert Demchenko, who took part in seven Winter Olympics, more than any other luger, has been appointed to the Technical Commission by the International Luge Federation (FIL). In addition to the two-time silver medallist at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, the FIL Executive Board also appointed the Swede Anders Söderberg and the Canadian Tim Farstad as members. Reto Gilly from Switzerland was also confirmed as a member.

Latvian Einars Fogelis is Chairman of the Commission in his capacity as Vice President for Technology. The Latvian Kaspars Dumpis, three-time Olympic champion Georg Hackl from Germany, and the Italian Norbert Huber, who still holds the record for most overall victories in the double-seater (with his partner Hans-Jörg Raffl) were also elected at the FIL Congress. Andris Šics (Latvia) sits on the commission as an athletes’ representative. The Austrian Christian Eigentler, the FIL Technical Director, attends meetings but does not have voting rights.
