Innsbruck (RWH) Bad surprise for several medal contenders: In the qualification round for the 2nd Sprint World Championships of the International Luge Federation in Innsbruck, Canada’s Alex Gough, the two-time Bronze medalist of luge World Championships, has failed as well as Chris Mazdzer (USA) and Germany’s Ralf Palik, who finished on 3rd last year the premiere of the Sprint World Championships.

Gough, who finished on 10th place last year at the premiere of the Sprint World Championships, missed the final of the best 15 women just by one thousand of a second. Austria’s Miriam Kastlunger, 2012 Gold medalist of the Youth Olympic Games on the Olympic track of Innsbruck, was this tininess faster.

Mazdzer missed the top 15 on 18th place, Ralf Palik just reached 20th place.
