Calgary (RWH) Canada’s Alex Gough, Chris Mazdzer (USA) and the doubles team of Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt of Germany are winners of the International Luge Federation's Sprint World Cup in Calgary, Canada. At the second showing of the discipline on the Calgarian Olympic track, Alex Gough came in first in the women's singles, followed by Erin Hamlin (USA) and Germany’s Natalie Geisenberger. Chris Mazdzer won the men's singles ahead of his team-mate Tucker West and Canada’s Sam Edney. Olympic Champions Wendl-Arlt celebrated their first victory of the season in the doubles, followed by Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken (GER) and Andris and Juris Sics from Latvia. The overall Viessmann World Cup rankings are headed by Natalie Geisenberger (470), Germany’s Felix Loch (336) and Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken (485). The FIL Sprint World Cup is decided in just one run. Athletes use the traditional flying start and the clock starts at the 100-metre mark after the start block. Only the first 15 in the World Cup ranking are entitled to compete. Altenberg (GER) will host the next FIL Sprint World Cup in January 2015. So far Innsbruck-Igls (AUT) and Calgary (CAN) have been stops at the FIL Sprint World Cup Tour.
